The League of Professional Theatre Women welcomes applications from all qualified women who work in the professional theatre and are leaders in their disciplines. The League encourages diversity in its membership.

Candidates for membership must complete the LPTW application form, accompanied by a current resume and letters of sponsorship from at least two League members. Applicant may consult the LPTW website for a list of current members.
Each applicant must have worked in her discipline for the equivalent of five years, in a leadership position, under standards set by the unions and guilds that have collective bargaining agreements with The Broadway League*, LORT, TCG, ART/NY, NEA, NYSCA, etc. For candidates applying as actor, director, playwright and producer, resumes must indicate name of play, date of production and name of theatre where work was produced.
Following receipt of full application and support materials, members are vetted first by the Membership Committee whose recommendations are presented to the LPTW Board of Directors at monthly meetings, where a final vote on each applicant is taken. Applications must be received and completed prior to the last Monday of the month for consideration at the following month's League Board meeting.
Full Members generally reside and work in the greater New York City vicinity (within a 150 mile radius of NYC) and are encouraged to join and participate on at least one League committee.
Regional Members (those living and working outside of a 150 mile radius of NYC) are welcome and encouraged to participate in League activities when possible.
International Members may include women working abroad whose credentials can be easily transposed to the League’s criteria and may be recommended by one full League Member. They are always welcome to participate in League activities when possible. They have no voting rights.
Associate Members may be those who are currently working in their theatre discipline for the equivalent of three years and have achieved early recognition or show exceptional promise. They will be considered on an individual basis and have no voting rights. Associate Members are encouraged to join and participate on at least one League committee.
The Board reserves the right to use its discretion to waive certain membership criteria by a majority vote on an individual basis.
Dues rates are determined by:
Full Membership – $150 per year
Regional or Associate Membership - $75 per year
