MITF Summer Short Works Submissions
July 15th – August 6th 2017
We want your short plays and musicals!
The submission deadline is April 15!
It is the festival of tomorrow’s producers today!
What it’s all about:
We are so excited to announce that MITF: Summer is now entering it’s 18th season! Our midtown location is safe, clean and super convenient to everyone especially for industry members. How we set ourselves from other festivals is: (1) we are the festival where new producers work alongside seasoned pros and (2) we have implemented a new Profit Sharing Policy (PSP). Every play now has the opportunity to earn a piece of the pie!!
MITF: Summer is a combination of full lengths, short plays and musicals, children’s plays, a Variety division (Magic Acts, Improv, Stand-up, Cabaret, Sketch Comedy, etc), The Short Play Lab (max 10 minutes) and Staged Readings. NOTE: There is a $250 fee for Staged Readings.
We’re looking for any type of piece that fits our guidelines but plays and musicals 30-45 minutes long are really the heart and soul of MITF:Summer and are given the number one priority.
*Short subjects and musicals 30 – 60 minutes long.
*Full lengths and musicals 61-90 minutes long.
*Musicals 91-120 minutes long.
Guidelines: No matter the piece or length
*Easy to produce in a no frills festival
*AEA showcases are welcome
*Short subjects using guns will not be considered however full lengths can use guns as props.
*Plays must be submitted in either a Word Document or PDF file.
*Pages must be numbered and the script in standard playscript format.
*The estimated running time must be clearly indicated.
*The small print: 12pt. font, Times New Roman; character names must be in the middle on their own line; line spaces between speeches and stage directions; indented stage directions; 1″margins all around.
The Where and What will be provided:
The Festival will take place at the Workshop Theater’s Main Stage and Jewel Box Theaters, 312 W. 36th St., NYC. MITF: Summer runs July 15th – August 6th 2017. The Festival will provide both spaces with shared scenery; four rehearsal cubes, a table and four chairs. Front of House Staff will also be provided.
