Casting Call for Village, My Home

About the project: 

Village, My Home is a theatre/film project about connection. In preparation for the new year, a Village housewife, a team of business people and inquisitive tourists struggle to find the meaning of home within the context of a bustling New York City. Searching deeply, they question what matters and find surprising connections where they least expect them.

Character Breakdown:

Middle Aged Woman, mid 30’s-50’s, determined, finds yoga at her desk a special challenge.
Middle Aged Man, mid 40’s- 50’s, frustrated, fails to report to HR
Best Friend, female, mid 30’s, enabling, always near middle aged woman.
Computer Geek, male, 24-32, boldly visionary, almost terrorist,
26 year old, female, empathetic, an editor on the verge of firing her interns
Out of Towner, male or female, charismatic, 25-40, inquisitive, daunted
Guide, female, 25-35, charismatic, enthusiastic
Traveler from another Boro, male, mid 30’s- 40’s, intrepid, proud
Native Dweller, female, mid 30’s- 40’s, aware and attentive
Old Man, 60’s-70’s, companion, smart
Chorus, 20’s-80’s, actors who move well, skilled at improvisation,

Welcoming all ethnicities for all roles. Actors must be able to memorize quickly.

Rehearsals begin in March 2017 in midtown due to a space grant from LIT, the League of Independent Theater. All rehearsals are Sunday’s from 6pm-8pm. Rehearsals for this are in preparation for summer festivals. Transportation reimbursement will be provided.
